Upstairs Downstairs Home is an elegant mix of old and new.

The former Upstairs Downstairs Antiques, now known as Upstairs Downstairs Home, has been a staple on Charles Street in the historic district of Beacon Hill for many years. We are enjoying our fresh & airy bigger space just a few doors down the street at 69 Charles Street. Our furniture styles span centuries, including Federal, Americana, Asian, Country Cottage, Shabby Chic, Art Deco and Mid-Century Modern. We offer a truly elegant mix, combining new and old. You will find a wide range of new and old art, antiques, and home décor. In 2021, Laura and her team made an ambitious choice to move to a bigger and bolder location on Charles St, which they now call Upstairs Downstairs Home located at 69 Charles St.

The variety delights our customers. Whether you are a Beacon Hill resident with a brownstone, a college student with a dorm room, a Bostonian with a summer house, or a retiree who is downsizing, or a traveler from near or far, there is something for everyone at Upstairs Downstairs Home. We continue to offer quality and affordable antiques in the heart of Beacon Hill. Come meander through our quaint shop and see what finds you might discover for your home. You’re always welcome here at Upstairs Downstairs.

Our Signature Style: Mixing Old and New

Owner Laura’s history in interior design and textiles with her knowledge of the history of antiques and all manners of home furnishings and decor made her the perfect fit to purchase Upstairs Downstairs Antiques eleven years ago. After studying interior and textile design at the Fashion Institute of Technology, New York, she also studied architecture in Florence, Italy, and spent time in France, which all adds to her “European Flare.” Laura and her team make it a priority to add unique design elements and curated displays, while using Laura’s signature style of mixing old and new. This has made Laura and her shop the go-to for TV interviews, as seen on WCVB TV Channel 5 and the printed press.

At Upstairs Downstairs Home we feature local art and vintage or antique prints. Featured artists included Cate Hunter Kashem, Andrea Guay, Niki Farrell, John Young, Marcia Corey, William Cloutman, Sitka, Eleanor Score, Nancy O’Hearn Marti Foley, Debbie Hearle, Caroline Walker, Judy Blotnick, and Robert Douglas Hunter and more! We have bios for each artist on display for you to read to learn more about the incredibly talented artists we represent.
